Basketball Recap: Opp Bobcats vs. Luverne Tigers

Opp had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 60-20 loss at the hands of the Luverne Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 52-22 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2022.

Opp's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chloe Bentley, who scored seven points along with two steals, and Emma Ramer, who scored no points in addition to two steals. The dominant performance also gave Bentley a new career-high in assists (two). Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Henderson, who posted five points plus nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Opp smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Luverne's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Opp will challenge Kinston at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Luverne, they will play host again on Saturday to welcome Georgiana, where tip off is scheduled at 4:30 p.m.
