Basketball Recap: Mosinee's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Mosinee and Lakeland squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Mosinee had to settle for second. They lost 66-40 to the Lakeland Thunderbirds. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Indians who fell 49-46 when the teams previously met back in December of 2024.

Lakeland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kristina Ouimette led the charge by going 6-for-10 en route to 19 points. Ouimette is crushing it when it comes to points: she's scored at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Evenhouse, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

The defeat snapped Mosinee's winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 18-7 record. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.9 points. As for Lakeland, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-4.

Mosinee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lakeland, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-47 loss against Rice Lake on the 6th.
