Softball Game Preview: Inspiration Academy Lions vs. Palmetto Tigers

Inspiration Academy has gone a perfect 3-0 against Palmetto recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lions will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Inspiration Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lake Wales on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 2-1.

Elle Hildreth spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Palmetto fell victim to Parrish Community and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Bulls by a score of 1-0.

Palmetto saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was LeiLani Cruz, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Inspiration Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-6. As for Palmetto, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Inspiration Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Palmetto in their previous matchup back in February, winning 9-4. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
