Volleyball Recap: Mercy Comes Up Short

If Mercy was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Omaha Central last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monarchs lost 3-0 to the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Monarchs in their meetings with the Bluejays: they've now lost seven in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-14, 25-14.

Gillian Bash paced Mercy's offense, picking up four kills. Bash got some help from Lily Mills and her eight assists.

Mercy's loss dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Ashland-Greenwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Mercy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Duchesne on the 25th. As for Ashland-Greenwood, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Platteview on the 21st.
