Basketball Recap: Northview Academy Comes Up Short

Northview Academy lost against Gatlinburg-Pittman back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Northview Academy Cougars took a 71-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wade Whaley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Gatlinburg-Pittman, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 14 rebounds. Whaley's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Quinn Coykendall, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points.

Northview Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Northview Academy will host Seymour at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northview Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 20 matches. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-44 victory against Pigeon Forge on the 28th.
