Basketball Game Preview: Shawnee Braves vs. Northwestern Warriors

The Shawnee Braves will venture away from home to square off against the Northwestern Warriors at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Shawnee and seven for Northwestern.

Shawnee is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against North Union on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Shawnee was beaten by North Union 66-29. The Braves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-10.

Meanwhile, Northwestern had to suffer through a 59-28 loss at the hands of Oakwood. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 711th, while the Lumberjacks are ranked 240th).

Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Shawnee, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Shawnee came up short against Northwestern when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 59-47. Can Shawnee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
