Softball Recap: J.I. Burton Black Raiders vs. Eastside Spartans
J.I. Burton couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They suffered a tough 18-0 loss at the hands of the Eastside Spartans on Monday. J.I. Burton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Eastside apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
For Eastside's part, the team relied heavily on Taylor Clay, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Riley Bower, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
The victory for Eastside keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
J.I. Burton will head out on the road to take on Rye Cove at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastside, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Patrick Henry at 5:00 p.m.
