Baseball Recap: Vineland Comes Up Short

Vineland dropped their record down to 13-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Kingsway Dragons, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Fighting Clan couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Kingsway, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

For Kingsway's part, Kevin Magsam spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. Magsam has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyle Shields, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Dylan Rickards, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Vineland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-6 win against Egg Harbor Township on the 24th. As for Kingsway, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-3 victory against Toms River North on the 27th.
