Baseball Recap: Lorena Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

Lorena has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.47 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They blew past the Smithville Tigers 20-11. Considering the Leopards have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Lorena's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Smithville, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-6 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lorena will head out to square off against North Crowley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lorena is facing North Crowley at the right time seeing as North Crowley is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Smithville, they are taking a road trip to face off against Luling at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Smithville has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
