Basketball Recap: Olathe South Falcons vs. Olathe Northwest Ravens
The Olathe South Falcons waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 71-60 victory over Olathe Northwest. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Ravens players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Popik, who scored 15 points along with five steals. Popik has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Campbell, who scored 16 points along with five assists and two steals.
Olathe South is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3-2 record this season. As for Olathe Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Olathe South will take on the Firebirds at TBD on Tuesday. Lawrence Free State will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Falcons are ranked 38th). As for Olathe Northwest, they will be playing at home against the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
