Basketball Game Preview: Donna North Chiefs vs. Pace Vikings

Donna North hasn't had much luck against Pace recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Donna North Chiefs will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Pace Vikings at 2:30 p.m.

Donna North will head into Friday's matchup out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Rivera an easy 53-28 victory. The Chiefs were down 40-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite their loss, Donna North saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jackie Rincon, who posted 14 points along with eight boards and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 50% of Donna North's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Pace strolled past Porter with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 33-19.

Donna North better focus on containing Kayla Cavazos and Bre Nelson as the pair were huge in Pace's win. Cavazos went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points and four steals, while Nelson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. Those 15 points gave Cavazos a new career-high.

Pace smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Pace's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-12. As for Donna North, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-17.

Donna North lost to Pace on the road by a decisive 32-14 margin in their previous meeting back in November. Can Donna North avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
