Football Recap: Lutheran Keeps Resurrection Christian's Under Pressure

It was a proper cat-fight when Lutheran faced off against Resurrection Christian on Friday. The Lions managed a 24-20 victory over the Cougars. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The critical scores for Lutheran came from Evan Holdridge, Nicholas Park, and Kaden Tisdall.

Lutheran's defense made their presence known, laying out Jackson Lucas. three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Rylan Tisdall, Will Thomas, and Nick Teerlinck, who each picked up one sack apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Resurrection Christian lost, don't look at Britton Walston. Despite the final result, he rushed for 188 yards and three scores while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. Walston really tore up the turf during one magnificent 87-yard run.

The win got Lutheran back to even at 2-2. As for Resurrection Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Coming up, after each having a week off, Lutheran and Green Mountain will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Resurrection Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 51-0 victory against Grand Valley on the 26th.
