Baseball Recap: Yoakum Comes Up Short

If Yoakum was feeling good fresh off their 18-11 takedown of Edna last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell 6-2 to the Columbus Cardinals on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Yoakum saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Green, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Green has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is 5-1-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

Yoakum's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10-1. As for Columbus, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

While Yoakum had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
