Baseball Recap: Red Mountain Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Red Mountain won against Shadow Ridge last Monday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Red Mountain Mountain Lions won by a run and slipped past the Brophy College Prep Broncos 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mountain Lions have posted against the Broncos since April 13, 2016.

Drew Hanen looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Red Mountain saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kale Thorson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Red Mountain pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Brophy College Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Looking ahead, Red Mountain will head out on the road to take on Williams Field at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Williams Field is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Brophy College Prep, they will host Desert Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Desert Ridge has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.36 runs per game on average), something Brophy College Prep will no doubt try to take advantage of.
