Volleyball Recap: Smith Center Redmen vs. Norton Bluejays
Smith Center was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Norton Bluejays. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bluejays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in September.
Smith Center started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-21, 25-19.
Norton found their leader in sophomore Halle Pfannenstiel, who had 17 digs. Caroline Fahrenbruch also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.
Smith Center's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Norton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season.
Smith Center wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Oakley on the 11th. As for Norton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Trego on the 11th.
