Basketball Game Preview: Veterans Warhawks vs. Houston County Bears

Veterans has won four straight games at home, while Houston County has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Veterans Warhawks will welcome the Houston County Bears at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Veterans didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Jones County, but they still walked away with a 41-36 win. Given the Warhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Veterans' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tristen Abner led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Abner a new career-high in steals (five). Jaivyon Dawson was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Meanwhile, Houston County beat Northside 58-50 on Saturday.

Houston County has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Veterans, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
