Basketball Recap: Ottawa Comes Up Short

Ottawa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sycamore Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while the Spartans are ranked 164th).

Ottawa's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Sycamore, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 19 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Coming up, Ottawa and Streator will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Streator has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Sycamore, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Marmion at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
