Baseball Recap: Clinton Prairie Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Clinton Prairie hadn't done well against Carroll recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Gophers walked away with a 9-6 win over the Cougars. The victory was familiar territory for the Gophers, who have now won three matches in a row.

Kye Jacobs made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Jacobs was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Clinton Prairie is undefeated when Jacobs posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ben Schlicher was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Price, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Clinton Prairie lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Clinton Prairie picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 7-3. As for Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Coming up, Clinton Prairie will welcome Taylor at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gophers are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Carroll, they will head out on the road to challenge Rochester at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Zebras' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
