Basketball Game Preview: Bastrop Rams vs. Richwood Rams

Bastrop hasn't had much luck against Richwood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bastrop Rams will square off against the Richwood Rams at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Richwood will be up against a hot Bastrop team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. Bastrop put the hurt on Sterlington with a sharp 94-73 victory on Friday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Rams just coasted through the last quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bastrop to victory, but perhaps none more so than Samuel Davis, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 boards gave Davis a new career-high. Antron Mason II was another key player, going 6 of 14 en route to 24 points along with eight assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Richwood over Sterlington in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Richwood was the clear victor by a 97-76 margin over Sterlington. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Bastrop's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.0 points per game. As for Richwood, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-9.

Bastrop ended up a good deal behind Richwood when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 72-53. Can Bastrop avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
