After a string of six wins, Illini Bluffs's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 40-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pekin Dragons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 51-47 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Illini Bluffs' defeat ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-9. As for Pekin, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Illini Bluffs has already played their next matchup (against Brimfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pekin is taking a road trip to challenge Morton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Morton will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Pekin surely won't give up without a fight.
