Basketball Recap: Grundy County/Newtown-Harris Comes Up Short

Grundy County/Newtown-Harris lost against Meadville back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The game between the Grundy County/Newtown-Harris Panthers and the Meadville Eagles didn't end well, with the Grundy County/Newtown-Harris Panthers falling 59-44. The Panthers were down 51-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Grundy County/Newtown-Harris still got an impressive performance from Hunter Miller, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 47.7% of Grundy County/Newtown-Harris' points, marking the eighth time in a row Miller has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Bower, who earned ten points and six boards.

Mason Dennis was his usual excellent self, going 6-for-11 from beyond the arc to rack up 27 points for Meadville. With that strong performance, Dennis is now averaging an impressive 15 points per game. Quentyn Smith was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Grundy County/Newtown-Harris' loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Meadville, they pushed their record up to 15-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Grundy County/Newtown-Harris won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tri-County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Meadville, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Marceline at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meadville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Marceline likes a good challenge.
