Recap: Maplewood Rockets vs. Badger Braves

It was a good run, but the Maplewood Rockets unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They received a tough blow as they fell 61-43 to Badger. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Maplewood in their matchups with Badger: they've now lost five in a row.

Maplewood's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madyson Cikosh, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Cikosh is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Raegan Krieg, who scored ten points along with five steals.

Badger's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabriella Miller, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Miller continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Brianna Huscroft was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six steals.

Maplewood's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Badger, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maplewood will challenge Brookfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Brookfield is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Badger won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Windham at 5:15 p.m. on January 19th. Windham will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 594th, while Badger is ranked 265th).
