Softball Recap: West Anchorage Eagles vs. Bartlett Golden Bears
On Thursday, West Anchorage faced Bartlett in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The West Anchorage Eagles never let the Bartlett Golden Bears onto the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for West Anchorage as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
West Anchorage let Olivia Byrd and Sofie Bernal loose on the outfield. Byrd scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Bernal scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Manuia Tufi was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
West Anchorage's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-16. As for Bartlett, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
West Anchorage will head out on the road to square off against Dimond at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Dimond is coming into the contest with five straight wins at home, so West Anchorage will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Bartlett does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
