Baseball Recap: Sunnyside Gets the Win

After losing to Canyon del Oro the last time they met, Sunnyside decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Sunnyside Blue Devils came out on top against the Canyon del Oro Dorados by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.

SABINO GONZALEZ was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. GONZALEZ was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, MICHEL MUNIZ was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Sunnyside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Sunnyside's record now sits at 6-2. As for Canyon del Oro, they moved to 5-3 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Sunnyside will take on Mountain View in a tournament on Wednesday. Sunnyside is facing Mountain View at the right time seeing as Mountain View is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Canyon del Oro, they will be taking part in a tournament against Coconino at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Coconino is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
