League recap: Steele tops East Central to extend winning streak

Steele extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region IV District 28 this week by beating East Central, 38-10. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Knights.

Steele was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting the Hornets. Scott Lehnhoff's team came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.

The Knights' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. LG Williams threw for 64 and 1 touchdown and D'Angelo Wallace had 48 yards receiving. On the ground Justin Stockton contributed 120 yards. Matt Moen helped Steele's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 16 yards.

Wallace was the best wideout in the league this week as Steele beat East Central. Wallace racked up 2 receptions for 48 yards. Moen helped Steele's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 16 yards.

Steele's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 779 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Wallace has 18 catches for 323 yards.

The Knights are in first place, while Carroll is in third place.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Steele takes on the Tigers. The Knights have allowed 152 points this season, while Carroll has given up 200. Steele allowed 10 points last week as it topped Clint Hartman's team.

Hal Wasson's team scaled the state rankings by moving to 320 from 406 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers were able to move up by beating Southwest 42-35.
