Baseball Game Preview: Desert Vista Thunder vs. Valley Vista Monsoon

The Desert Vista Thunder will square off against the Valley Vista Monsoon at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Desert Vista is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Corona del Sol, who was ranked first at the time (Desert Vista was ranked 11th). The Thunder took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aztecs on Thursday.

Sammy Skinner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Valley Vista fell victim to Tolleson and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Wolverines. The Monsoon just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Valley Vista saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Troy Morales, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.

Desert Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Valley Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Desert Vista came out on top in a nail-biter against Valley Vista in their previous matchup back in April of 2018, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Monsoon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
