Basketball Recap: Terryl Chandler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Washington Latin Public Charter School over Washington Leadership Academy

Washington Latin Public Charter School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-47 heartbreaker at the hands of Washington Leadership Academy. The Lions were probably out for revenge after losing 57-53 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Terryl Chandler, who posted 20 points. Connor Smith was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Washington Leadership Academy had a senior duo take command as Dawaun McLean dropped a double-double on 25 boards and 15 blocks and Amari Clarke scored 26 points. The dominant performance gave McLean a new career-high in rebounds.

Washington Latin Public Charter School's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Washington Leadership Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.

Washington Latin Public Charter School has already played their next matchup, an 85-28 loss against KIPP DC Legacy College Prep on the 14th. As for Washington Leadership Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-40 defeat against Digital Pioneers Academy on the 14th.
