Recap: Franklin Central Purple Devils vs. Cherry Valley-Springfield Patriots
The Franklin Central Purple Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Cherry Valley-Springfield 67-40. Franklin Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-12.
Several Purple Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shannon Kingsbury, who scored 18 points along with three steals. That was a full 45% of Franklin Central's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Hyzer, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Franklin Central has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Cherry Valley-Springfield, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.
Franklin Central will challenge the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cherry Valley-Springfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
