Softball Recap: Sayre Redskins vs. Sullivan County Griffins
After flying high against Wellsboro on Thursday, Sayre came back down to earth. The Sayre Redskins lost 11-5 to the Sullivan County Griffins on Friday. Sayre was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sullivan County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April.
Olivia Thompson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Meghan Flynn, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
On Sullivan County's side, Emilia Viveiros was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Viveiros has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Viveiros was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a stolen base and a double.
