Baseball Recap: Cannon Wins Going Away Against Concord Academy

Cannon barely beat Concord Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cannon Cougars blew past the Concord Academy Eagles 7-1 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Bennett Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Colin Kieley and Mason Mierzwa did most of the damage at the plate: Kieley scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Mierzwa scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Mierzwa a new career-high. Victor Lopez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3.

Cannon now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Concord Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cannon will head out to square off against Charlotte S at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cannon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Concord Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Lee Park Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
