Baseball Recap: Benton Central Sets Scoring Season-High Against North Newton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Benton Central). They came out on top against the North Newton Spartans by a score of 6-1 on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bison as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Carter Fox made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Weise, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Flook, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Benton Central's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for North Newton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benton Central will face off against Delphi Community at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Newton, they will take on DeMotte Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
