Basketball Recap: Murray Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Murray and Dixie squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Murray had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Dixie Flyers, falling 80-49. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Flyers are ranked 33rd).

When it comes to explaining why Murray lost, don't look at Charlotte Scherbel. Despite the final result, she went 6-for-12 en route to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Those 21 points gave Scherbel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Richter, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 12 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Murray was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Murray's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Dixie, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10.

Murray does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dixie, they will face off against Cottonwood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Cottonwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.
