Basketball Recap: Laney Buccaneers vs. Hoggard Vikings
After flying high against North Brunswick last Thursday, Laney came back down to earth. The Laney Buccaneers came up short against the Hoggard Vikings on Friday, falling 55-34. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 37-24 back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Laney lost, don't look at Piper Conklin. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points.
Hoggard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tristan Shivers led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten assists. Shivers has been hot recently, having posted eight or more assists the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Fitzgerald, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
