Baseball Recap: South Eugene Takes a Loss

South Eugene lost against Willamette back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Axe came up short against the Wolverines, falling 8-1. The Axe have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South Eugene got a good showing from Gabe Garcia, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Garcia has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gavin Bush made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles.

South Eugene's record now sits at 3-15. As for Willamette, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. South Eugene will challenge rival South Medford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Willamette is set to take on their familiar foe Grants Pass at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
