Preview: Covington Trojans vs. North Vermillion Falcons
Covington is 9-1 against North Vermillion since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Covington Trojans will head out on the road to take on the North Vermillion Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Covington is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
Covington suffered their closest loss yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Lebanon by a score of 54-51. Covington has not had much luck with Lebanon recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The losing side was boosted by Coye Ferguson, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kolten Haymaker, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, North Vermillion's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to North Central.
Covington has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for North Vermillion, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Covington came up short against North Vermillion in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 57-45. Can Covington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
