Softball Recap: Berrien Springs Comes Up Short

Berrien Springs dropped their record down to 7-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the River Valley Mustangs, falling 20-5. The Shamrocks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Isabel Hoover was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Hayden Wagner, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

As for River Valley, they now have a winning record of 6-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On River Valley's side, Greta Vollma made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Vollma has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Addy Lynch was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Emma Seifert was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.

Berrien Springs has already played their next contest, a 6-2 loss against Bridgman on the 2nd. River Valley has also already played their next game (against Howardsville Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
