Basketball Game Preview: Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs vs. Phillipsburg Panthers

The Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs will take on the Phillipsburg Panthers in a tournament on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

It looked like the Kentucky Derby when Sylvan-Lucas took on Russell on Tuesday. Sylvan-Lucas fell 66-59 to Russell. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Broncos 14-8 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Phillipsburg lost 55-34 to Central Plains on Tuesday.

Sylvan-Lucas' loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Phillipsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Sylvan-Lucas came up short against Phillipsburg when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 67-56. Thankfully for Sylvan-Lucas, Rad Rodriguez (who went 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
