Long Beach Poly (Calif.) now has nine players who have been picked by the NFL's elite since 2006.
That moved the Jackrabbits up to No. 3, tied with
Norland (Miami) among all high schools, well back of leader
St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) with 19, and
Glenville (Cleveland) with 13.
Smith-Schuster, who was known simply as John Smith as a prep, went to the Steelers in the second round and Brown in the fifth round to the Titans.
Glenville added one to its total with a first-round selection — No. 13 overall — of cornerback

St. Thomas Aquinas had no former players drafted, the first time since 2009. Florida had another robust showing on draft day with 27 picks, but Georgia had the most with 29, followed by California (26), Texas (23) and Louisiana (16).
Since 2006, California has the most selections with 372, followed by Florida (366) and Texas (335).
Poly was one of 10 schools with two picks each in the 2017 draft. Among the others were
Serra (Gardena, Calif.),
Lakewood (St. Petersburg, Fla.),
Cass Tech (Detroit),
West Monroe (La.) and
St. Rita (Chicago).
Serra, Cass Tech and Lakewood all have had five players drafted since 2006 and West Monroe and St. Rita have had four.
