Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Vernon vs. Vienna/Goreville

The Mt. Vernon Rams will head out to face off against the Vienna/Goreville Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mt. Vernon came up short against Greenville on Friday, falling 5-1. Mt. Vernon have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Vienna/Goreville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 8-0 to Carbondale. While losing is never fun, Vienna/Goreville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Carbondale are ranked 186th).

Mt. Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Vienna/Goreville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Mt. Vernon took their win against Vienna/Goreville in their previous matchup on Monday by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
