Basketball Recap: Valley Falls Falls Despite Big Games from Chloe Cox and Cali Delong

Valley Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Perry-Lecompton Kaws. The Dragons were probably out for revenge after losing 39-27 to them when the teams met back in January of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Valley Falls had strong showings from Cali DeLong, who posted 17 points and four steals, and Chloe Cox, who had 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave DeLong a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Abbigail Wilson, who earned three points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Valley Falls' loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Perry-Lecompton, they moved to 2-11-1 with that victory, which also ended their nine-game losing streak.

Valley Falls didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-40 defeat against Horton on the 3rd. As for Perry-Lecompton, they will square off against Royal Valley on Friday.
