Basketball Recap: Von Steuben Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Von Steuben challenged Lake View on Tuesday. The Von Steuben Panthers lost 64-39 to the Lake View Wildcats. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

It was another big night for Daniel Loza, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 27 points for Lake View. Loza's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Frank Fregoso, who posted seven points in addition to 11 assists and seven steals.

Von Steuben has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Lake View, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Von Steuben will head out to take on Chicago Mathematics & Science at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Von Steuben is facing Chicago Mathematics & Science at the right time seeing as Chicago Mathematics & Science is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Lake View, they will venture away from home to face off against Senn at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake View has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
