Baseball Recap: Lyman's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Lyman had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out the Lake Howell Silverhawks 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Greyhounds have posted against the Silverhawks since April 27, 2021.

Bucky Barnes and Kevin Cusick did most of the damage at the plate: Barnes scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Cusick went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Lyman is undefeated when Cusick posts three or more RBI, but 0-10 otherwise. Anthony Hamilton was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5.

Lyman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was since the start of last season.

Lyman's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-10. As for Lake Howell, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-7 record.

Coming up, Lyman and Flagler Palm Coast will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Lyman will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. Lake Howell will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hagerty at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th.
