Baseball Game Preview: Rosewood Eagles vs. Wayne Christian Eagles

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rosewood has four straight wins, Wayne Christian has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Rosewood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Union on Wednesday as Rosewood made off with a 21-1 victory. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Cam Rye, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Joseph Lund, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Rosewood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .733. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Wayne Christian didn't have quite enough to beat John Paul II Catholic on Thursday and fell 3-1.

Wayne Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Peck, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Sal Benkovics also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Rosewood pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Wayne Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rosewood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wayne Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
