Basketball Recap: Brevard Takes a Loss

Brevard lost against Polk County back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Brevard Blue Devils were dealt a 72-24 defeat at the hands of the Polk County Wolverines. The game marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Bailey Staton was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds for Polk County. The dominant performance gave Staton a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Kylie Lewis, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Brevard and nudges their season record down to 4-8. As for Polk County, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.

Brevard has already played their next match, a 63-35 loss against Tuscola on the 23rd. As for Polk County, they will challenge Patton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Polk County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season.
