Softball Game Preview: Columbia Raiders vs. Midview Middies

The Columbia Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Midview Middies at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Columbia nor Midview posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Columbia lost 12-1 to Keystone on Monday.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Midview's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They came up short against Steele, falling 11-0. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Middies, who until this contest were averaging 3.23 runs allowed.

Midview's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Columbia, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Columbia has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Midview struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Columbia suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Midview when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
