The East Orange Campus Jaguars will take on the East Side Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Things were looking good for East Orange Campus after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 9-5 to Golda Och Academy.
Tiger Disla put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Disla was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Adrian Guevara made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season. Nelio Ventura was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East Side, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Newark Central 11-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Red Raiders have won six matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
East Side let Johansel Santana and Edwin Fajardo run wild. Santana got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Fajardo went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Santana is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Joel Fernandez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
East Side's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for East Orange Campus, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. East Orange Campus has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like East Side struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
East Orange Campus suffered a grim 21-2 defeat to East Side in their previous matchup on April 7th. Will the Jaguars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
