Monroe Central has gone 7-2 against Northeastern recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Golden Bears will welcome the Knights at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Saturday.
Northeastern will be up against a hot Monroe Central team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Golden Bears' way against Randolph Southern on Thursday as they made off with a 55-33 win. The Golden Bears pushed the score to 43-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rebels had little chance of recovering from.

Monroe Central found their leader in sophomore Abe Ervin, who shot 47% from the field on her way to 25 points and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ervin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynlee Patterson, who posted 14 points and three steals.
Monroe Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northeastern). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Union City 78-22. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won four in a row.
Northeastern's win came from a few key players Monroe Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Fiona Breitenbach, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten assists. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.6 steals per game. Karri Gammon was another key player, going 7-for-11 en route to 18 points and eight boards.
Monroe Central's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Northeastern, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Monroe Central has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northeastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 33.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
