Softball Recap: Juan Diego Catholic Triumphs

Juan Diego Catholic lost to Union back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle walked away with a 7-3 win over the Union Cougars.

Ellie Palmer spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sarah Fiore, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Oaklee Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Juan Diego Catholic will challenge Corner Canyon at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Union, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Union Cougars face off against Pine View Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
