Football Recap: Piner Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Piner extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were dealt a 48-0 defeat at the hands of the Sonoma Valley Dragons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Prospectors of the 35-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

As for Sonoma Valley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Sonoma Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dalan Lopata out in front who threw for 280 yards and four touchdowns. That's the most passing yards Lopata has posted since back in October of 2024. Cayden Waldrop handled things on the ground, rushing for 86 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Piner will face off against Santa Rosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sonoma Valley, they will host San Rafael at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
