Football Recap: McLoud Comes Up Short

McLoud was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 49-7 loss at the hands of the Lone Grove Longhorns. While losing is never fun, the Redskins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Longhorns are ranked 55th).

Phoenix Lopez threw for 59 yards on eight of 17 attempts. On the ground, Leroy Thomas rushed for 146 yards while picking up 8.6 yards per carry.

McLoud's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Lone Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McLoud will face off against rival Perkins-Tryon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Thomas and Wyatt Atkinson. Meanwhile, Lone Grove is set to take on their familiar foe Bristow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
